The US Army Band, “Pershing’s Own,” is an ensemble of instrumentalists and singers across the Army Band. The group is known for its performance and has fans of all ages.

They sing all kinds of music, including bluegrass, Americana, country, folk, and Irish. A recent performance of the US Army Band, Pershing’s Own, featuring one of their groups Country Roads, has gained immense popularity. The reason is that the group performs a rendition of several classic songs with a twist of country & bluegrass in it.

The Country Roads band members consist of Master Sgt. Dean Woods on lead vocal and guitar and Master Sgt. Marlisa Woods on fiddle and backup vocals. It also has Master Sgt. Jon Voth on pedal steel, Sgt. 1st Class Tracy LeBrecque on female lead vocals, and Sgt. 1st Class Michael Kramer on banjo and dobro. There was also Sgt. 1st Class Eric Seay on bass, Master Sgt. Larry Ferguson on drums, and Staff Sgt. Jan Knutson on the mandolin.

SGM Dave Brown introduces the featured band, “Country Roads,” to the online crowd (these are usually virtual concerts of the US Army Band). He informs the public that the group is one of the most popular and most entertaining ensembles & was here for them, live from Brucker Hall.

Sgt. 1st Class Tracy LeBrecque, the female lead vocalist, begins the performance with a beautiful version of “Travelin’ Soldier” by Bruce Robison. The classic song tells you about a soldier who strikes up a conversation with a Vietnamese school girl & their relationship ends in heartbreak.

Master Sgt. Dean Woods sings the next song, a bluegrass version of the classic “Rocket Man” by Elton John & Bernie Taupin. He also sings “More than a Name on a Wall” by Jimmy Fortune.

The talented lead singer also performs a rendition of the 1971 classic “Country Roads” by John Denver & ends their performance with an upbeat track, “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” by John Martin. After the last performance, SGM Dave Brown gives his closing speech wishing everyone to stay safe.
