Pavel Abramov, a 9-year old Russian boy, decided to help a shelter for dog-owners in Arzamas.

For each animal (around 100), 45 pounds of porridge is required and the same amount of meat daily. How can a young volunteer like this help? Pavel is a skilled artist and could sell his drawings to purchase toys or a new smartphone. Pavel instead trades his artwork for food and medicines for the animals, and then takes it to the shelter.

Barsik, the family cat that Barsik had lost, caused serious emotional trauma for the boy. He began to notice the stray animals on the streets and began to pay more attention. He wanted to help in some way, do something for them. His mother supported him and they created the “Kind Paintbrush Project”.

He came up with a solution. This is not a place for money transactions. Everything should be honest, open, and transparent. Pavel, the mother of the young artist, explains that we only exchange paintings for shelter needs. Pavel draws pets according to photos and stories from the owners.

He receives medication, dog food, and meat in exchange for his painting. Surprisingly orders started to come in from more than just Russian animal lovers. German and Spanish people also want to take a portrait of their pets and participate in charity work. The queue is so long that no new orders are accepted at the moment. The boy was able to obtain 1100 pounds of food, supplies, and veterinary medicines over the 40th of his works. The state did not grant him grants. He attracted large amounts of money, media support, offices, and a lot of employees. One person’s desire to help others may be all that is needed to make a difference in the world.
