A hero dog who survived the gunfire to save others, was awarded the highest animal honor

Kuno, a Belgian Malinois named Kuno, was part of special forces in Afghanistan.

The British military used the dog to help them in any way possible during the operation. Once, the dog saved their lives. The government awarded the dog a medal for his bravery. This award is equivalent to the Victoria Cross, the highest military award in Great Britain. It is an award for heroism in combat situations.

When extremists attacked soldiers in Afghanistan in 2019, the dog was right next to them. The British military was stopped and surrounded. Kuno, who has been trained to incapacitate enemy soldiers and jumped through a hailstorm of bullets to take out the shooter. His squad was able to complete the mission successfully because of this.

The heroic dog got hurt in his hind legs. As they returned to base, his mentor and medical personnel had to fly in a helicopter to help him. He sustained many injuries and was flown to the UK by Royal Air Force aircraft for treatment. The dog survived thanks to the kindness of veterinarians. To stop the spread of the disease, veterinarians had to amputate the dog’s hind leg.

Kuno was able to receive a series of treatments that made him the first British military dog to be fitted with custom-made prostheses. These prostheses were used to replace the missing paw or help the injured leg. According to the British Defense Secretary Kuno changed the course of the entire expedition and saved lives. Kuno was awarded the Dickin Medal by the veterinary charity PDSA, which is the highest honor for animal combat prowess.
